Diwali is only a month away. Here is some information to help you plan ahead if you intend of using fireworks and other products.
Diwali is coming up quick and we want to make sure everyone is safe and able to enjoy themselves. Rules and regulations in Canada are very specific, and local bi-laws consider fountains a firework; which means most homes do not have the clearance to get a permit.
But that does not mean that you cant enjoy your evening(s)!!
If you are looking for a space within the city, there are two options. If you know someone who has the available space, then you can receive permission to use their space. Otherwise, you can get permission from the city to use one of their spaces.
Step 1: Call 311 and ask for Park Reservations. They will give you permission to use a space with a time.
Once you have permission to use a space;
Step 2: Fill out and submit the Fireworks Permit to receive your permit.
I have heard from some of our customers that some of the temples and cultural centers in the city get their own permits so that family's can bring their items there to use. Last year, this was not an option as the city was in lockdown due to Covid-19. This year, although restrictions are still in place, we are not in a lockdown. This means that the temples and cultural centers can also be a good resources of information.
